Francis Farr Obituary

Visit the Lane Funeral Home and Crematory - South Crest Chapel - Rossville website to view the full obituary.
Francis Elizabeth Farr, 91, of Rock Spring, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her residence. A native of Atlanta, she had spent most of her life in Walker County, where she built a legacy of service, compassion, and love for her community.

Francis was a devoted longtime member of McFarland United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the Prime Timers group. She was also a proud lifelong member of the Mountain View Community Club. For more than 20 years, she served faithfully as a bailiff with the Walker County Government Supreme Court, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike.

A woman with a heart for others, Francis volunteered with both the Walker County Crisis Center and the Al Millard Stockings Full of Love program. Her greatest passion, however, was caring for children. Over the years, she lovingly opened her home and heart to more than 100 children, nurturing them with the same dedication she gave her own family. She adored her grandchildren and cared deeply about the well-being of all children in her community.

Francis was known for her creativity and talents. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and was a wonderful cook, best known for her famous coconut cake. A skilled seamstress, she lovingly made clothes for her children throughout the years.

Francis will be remembered for her generosity, unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Farr; daughter, Deborah Elizabeth Mayer; parents, Austin and Rosa Lee Hawkins; daughter-in-law, Terrye Lynn Farr; brother, Robert Hawkins; and sister-in-law, Jody Swindel.

Survivors include her sons, Tommy (Adena) Farr and George (Lynita) Farr; brother, Jerald Hawkins; sister, Carol Norris Davis; son-in-law, Tim Mayer; grandchildren, Nicholas (Carol), Callie, Cobia (Nicole), and Blake; great grandchildren, Madison, Isabel, Emily, Tori, Haley, Scarlett, Bryson, and Brayden; and several nieces and nephews.

Condolences may be shared with the Farr family and live web casting of the funeral service will be available at www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.

Donations may be made in Francis' name to the Walker County Family Crisis Center at P.O. Box 252, LaFayette, GA 30728.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Jacqueline Davis-Gines officiating.

Interment will follow in the TN-GA Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-7p.m. and Monday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville, GA.
