Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Keith Barnard Farr passed away on November 4th 2025 in Layton, Utah at the age of 86 years old, Utah. He was born on August 15th 1939 to Kenneth Alvord Farr and Sarah Larene Stark in Ogden Utah. He was the third of five children. He lived his childhood in a home built in 1902 by his grandparents, Barnard Farr and Susan Alvord, in Taylor, Utah. The home stands today. As a teenager he and his family moved to Nyssa, Oregon to tend a large family farm. In his teenage years, Keith discovered his love of radio and knew he wanted to be a broadcaster. At the young age of 16 he earned his 1st class engineering license, the youngest to earn one at that time. Over his radio career he worked as an announcer or in other roles for KSRV Oregon, KLO Ogden, KBUH Brigham City, KRSN Los Alamos, KIFI-NBC-8 Idaho Falls, andN KWIN/KCVR in Lodi CA, to name a few. He has a collection of radio memorabilia and history at the University of Utah and in several Radio museums in the western United States. He created several documentary videos chronicling the history of radio. He loved the fact that Dallin H Oaks, prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was a radio announcer early in his career.
Keith was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Farr Birchfield, his parents Ken and Larene Farr, and his sister Joan (Gale) Allred. He is survived by his daughters Lisa (Ken) Rigley and Susan Farr Fahncke; siblings Colleen Dahl Thurgood, Kal (Marilyn) Farr, Dee Farr; nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Keith proudly served in the Air Force reserves.
Keith married Betty Petersen and had 3 wonderful daughters, Lisa, Susan, and Angela. They were later divorced, but Keith was fond of Betty and appreciated what she did for the family. He loved his girls and their children.
Keith wrote a wonderful auto-biography for his posterity to enjoy. This will soon be scanned and placed on familysearch.org. He loved to preserve family history, photos, memories and heirlooms. He created several documentary videos chronicling the history of his family. Keith was very proud of his family and their life accomplishments, no matter how great or small. He sincerely wished that all members of his family could find hope, unity, peace and success in life. He loved animals, especially his cats.
Though not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he was a staunch advocate of the church, the importance of temples, missionary work, and the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. He believed all these things a need and blessing in the lives of his family.
Keith lived in Lodi CA for 55 years before moving to Layton Utah in 2023 to live with his daughter Lisa. In
Lodi he had many dear friends. The final years in Layton were hard for Keith who missed his independence and working on his beloved historic home at 711 Louie Ave, Lodi CA. Ken and Lisa consider it an honor and privilege to have had the opportunity to serve Keith in the final years of his life.
