GLOVER, Francis A. "Cotton," completed his life journey on August 22, 2009, at Riverview on the Appomattox in Hopewell, Virginia. Born December 1, 1926, in Scotland Neck, N.C., to Harvey and Rose Glover, he lived most of his life in Hopewell. He retired from Hercules Incorporated after 33 years of service. "Cotton" served in the US Navy in WWII in the Pacific. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the Church choir. "Cotton" was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jean Maddux Glover; his brother, James T. Glover; and nephew, Welmont L. "Chip" Drake. He is survived by sister, Iris G. Powell, of Richmond, Va.; son, Thomas F. Glover and his wife, Barbara, of Chesapeake; daughter, Jan McKently, of Wilmington, Delaware; granddaughters, Lauren McKently, of Coatesville, Pa., and Karen McKently, of Wilmington; a great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Peterson of Coatesville; niece, Donna D. Smith and her husband, Jim, of Williamsburg; and several great-nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care he received from the staff at Riverview on the Appomattox and Crater Hospice. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Weston Manor in Hopewell, or your favorite charity.

Tommy,
Hamner came by mom's house Friday after the funeral. Nehl and I were both there visiting her. Sorry to hear about your dad; we just lost ours last July and there's just a big hole. I wish I could still call him and say hello. I'm thinking of you. Take care.

Tom and Family, I am very sad to read of the loss of your Dad. I know that he and my Dad, Beauford Ashworth were good friends and spent many joyful hours with the BarberShop music. Iam gratefull to have known him.
