Francis Anthony "Frank" Knollmeyer, age 90, of Vienna, was born October 5, 1932, at Jefferson City, a son of Francis and Antoinette (Haar) Knollmeyer, and passed from this life Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
On November 30, 1954, Frank entered active federal service in the United States Army, where he served until November 29, 1962, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 3rd Class. During his military career Frank served as a military police officer at West Point, being awarded badges for expert rifle M-1 and sharpshooter pistol.45 caliber, and the Good Conduct Medal. A man of excellent character, his "Honorable Discharge" is a testimony of selfless and dedicated service to his country during the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage January 2, 2010, at the Word of Life Fellowship Church, Clear Lake, Wisconsin, to the former Glennis Lenora Mann.
Frank was baptized early in life and was a member of Kenner Church of God, near Dixon at the time of his passing.
He continued his career in the lumber business, becoming manager in 1956 and in 1957 owner of Knollmeyer Lumber and Hardware. Frank was a member of the True Value Association, Cattlemen Association, Lumber Association, Jaycees, Lions Club, American Legion, and the Optimist Club. He was known to be a teaser and enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing, woodworking, coaching little league, and drawing.
Frank is survived by wife and family, Glennis Knollmeyer, of the home near Vienna; Mike Knollmeyer of Bath Township, Ohio, Marsha Mercer of Dixon, Kyle Miller (Laura) of Dixon; his stepchildren, Tammy VanDeWiele (Kyle) of Osceola, Wisconsin, Susan Dollar (George) of Skiatook, Oklahoma, John Ahles of Star Prairie, Wisconsin, Mark Ahles (Sandy) of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Catherine Hayes (Rick) of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, Michael Knollmeyer, Skie Knollmeyer, Levi McQueary, Kristopher Mercer, Savannah Mercer, Kaleigh Miller, Karson Miller, Kollin Miller, Kordell Miller, and Karlee Miller; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Spurlock, Konner Mercer, Kamryn Mercer, and Kooper Mercer; one brother, Donald Knollmeyer (Jeannie) of Bonnots Mill; nephews, nieces, with great and great-greats as well, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Antionette Knollmeyer, and two brothers, John Knollmeyer and Jerome Knollmeyer.
Visitation for Mr. Frank Knollmeyer will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, MO 65582, and Friday, August 18, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m., in Kenner Church of God, 17996 Maries Rd 505, Dixon, MO 65459, with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, will be in Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Frank Knollmeyer will be Michael Knollmeyer, Kyle Miller, Levi McQueary, Kristopher Mercer, Rodney Wade, and Steve Neubert. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Waldron, J.D. Fritchey, Dale Copeland, and Mark Ahles.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Frank Knollmeyer are suggested by his family to the Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or the church on the day of his service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
