Francis W. Lockwood, age 86, passed away on December 6, 2025.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Louise Somora Lockwood; his children, Timothy (Donna) Lockwood, Dawn Driffill, Nene (James) Fyfe, Robert (Melissa) Lockwood, and Tracey Gaines; his son-in-law, Don Maddalena; his grandchildren, Shadow (Amber) Alaimo, Lucian Young, and Caitlyn O'Reilly; his brother, Nick (Judy) DiSalvo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his parents, William and Hazel VanHouten; his son, Rick Lockwood; his daughter, Leisa Maddalena; and several siblings.
Fran was a 6 year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Born with a curious mind and skilled hands, Francis spent his career as a model-maker for Xerox Corporation in Rochester. His creativity extended far beyond his work-he delighted in magic, puzzles, and welding, often crafting whimsical figures from nuts, bolts, and bits of metal. He also enjoyed writing stories drawn from his life and imagination. A trip to the casino was always a welcome outing, bringing him joy and a bit of adventure.
Francis will be remembered for his humor, ingenuity, and the warmth he brought to those around him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 PM at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, 735 East Avenue, Hilton. Prayers and family remembrances celebrating Fran's life will take place at 2:00 PM.
Those wishing may make contributions in memory of Fran to Veteran's Outreach Center Inc., 447 South Avenue, Rochester, NY. Click on the charity name to link directly to the donation site.
