FRANCIS JOSEPH LYMAN
Born January 2, 1930, Francis Joseph Lyman, 92, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022. Son of the late Frank R. Lyman and Margaret Mary Varley. Beloved Husband of Norma Lyman for 31 years. Loving Father of Gary (Diane) Lyman, Tom (Mary Ann) Lyman, and the late Jack (Rene) Lyman. Preceded in death by his first wife Loretta Lyman. Respected Stepfather of Jennifer Donahue and Eric (Susan) Schubert. Grandfather of Brendan Lyman, Tricia Donahue, Matt Donahue, Sylvia Donahue, Holden Schubert, and Natalie Schubert. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
It was once remarked "Only a life lived for others is worth living." Frank exemplified this philosophy throughout his personal and professional life. His life's commitment to service has always reflected his personal values-family, friendship, church, and community. Frank proudly served in the education profession for 38 years, culminating with his role as assistant superintendent at Mt. Lebanon School District.
Frank's love for family knew no bounds. He served as our spiritual leader, always setting a prayerful example for us and living his faith. We will always remember his precious gifts of kindness, generosity, wisdom, and positive advice. He earned the love, respect, and admiration of his family and friends. We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will be greatly missed.
Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His Hand.
