Francis Mello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rebello Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 30, 2026.
Warren- Francis E. "Frank" Mello,89, born on February 17, 1937, in Seekonk, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Warren. He was a loving, kind, and gentle man whose life was marked by devotion to family, hard work, friendship, and a deep connection to the community he called home.

Frank lived in Warren for most of his life, having previously lived in Seekonk, and he carried with him the values of both places throughout his life. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda A. (Lever) Mello and the late Helen (Phillips) Mello. He was the devoted son of the late Joseph C. and Mary (DeCosta-Leiter) Mello and the cherished brother of the late Joseph C. Mello, Jr., Daniel Mello, Arthur "Archie" Mello, and Edward Mello. Frank was also a proud father, stepfather, grandfather, step grandfather, great grandfather, and godfather, and he treasured the many relationships that filled his life with meaning.

He is survived by his children, Tashay "Louise" Geoffroy of South Carolina, Linda Logan of Florida, Laureen Mello of Florida, Lillian Mello and her fiancé Hank Walther of New Hampshire, and Loretta McMahon and her husband Craig of Waterville, Maine. He was the stepfather of John "Jay" Resendes and his wife Molly of Riverside and Theresa "Rene" Santos of Bristol. He was the grandfather of Ryan Geoffroy, Britni (Logan) Kamphuis, Quentin Mello, Ian Logan, and Sierra Lagasse. He was the step grandfather of Kylie, A.J., Johnathan, Zachary, Kyle, Brandyn, and Bryanna, and the great grandfather of Kayden. He was the godfather of Jay, David, and Mekayla. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will remember him with affection and respect.

Frank was a hardworking man who spent many years as Shipping Supervisor for Davol Rubber, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. He also worked as a bartender at the 305 Club in East Providence, where his friendly nature and easy conversation made him a familiar and welcome presence. In addition, he worked for many years at Lucky Bait and Tackle in Warren and later served as a driver for Riverview Adult Day Care. In every job he held, Frank brought dedication, responsibility, and a steady spirit that earned the trust of those around him.

A man of many interests, Frank found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in the company of others. He was a parishioner of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Church and later of St. Mary of the Bay, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the fellowship of the Warren German Club and the Portuguese American Club of Warren. He took part in the RITT and the Tuna Tournament and was a member of the Striper Angler Club. His love of sports was evident in many ways, as he played in the 50 Plus Hockey League, coached junior league hockey in Seekonk at Bay State Arena, and played men's softball. He also started the Ladies Softball League in East Providence, leaving a lasting mark on the local sports community. Frank was a devoted fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins, and he followed his teams with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Frank will be remembered for his gentle manner, his generous heart, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and valued, and his presence brought warmth to family gatherings, friendships, and everyday moments alike. His legacy is one of love, service, and enduring devotion to the people and places that mattered most to him.

His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his kindness, humor, and steadfast love. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the lives he touched will remain a lasting source of comfort and pride.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday. April 7, 2026, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME,901 Broadway, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
