Frank A. Alvarez

Frank A. Alvarez, 76, of Fort Johnson, passed away Tuesday morning March 10, 2026 at his home with his loving wife and family following a long courageous battle with cancer.

Frank was born on October 4, 1949, a son of the late Frank "Chico" Alvarez and Levina "Bobbie" (Arndt) Markes.

He was a lifelong area resident and was a 1967 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Frank worked in various positions for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for over 36 years.

He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, boating, camping, and having a cold Budweiser while spending time with family and friends.

He married Anna (Seyfried) Alvarez on September 14, 1974. In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his three dear children, Lisa (Darryll) Towsley, Frank "Ryan" Alvarez and Lori Alvarez. His cherished grandchildren, James "Jack", Anthony, and Andrew Towsley, Frank Tyller and Mathilde "Maddie" Alvarez. His siblings, Kenneth (Shiela) Alvarez, Liz (Mike) Keller, and George (Terri Jo) Alvarez . Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 15, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam. A prayer service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding.

A Celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
