Frank Rutledge Austin, age 84 of Oakdale, went home to be with the Lord, December the 9th, 2025, after a brief battle with lung disease. He was born February the 4th, 1941 in Chattanooga, TN, the son of the late Frank and Isabel Austin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Austin, sisters Peggy Brackett, husband Claude, and Barbara Tidwill and husband Bobby. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Jarnigan of Rockwood, sister Loretta Pugh of Oak Ridge, one sister-in-law June Austin Achilles of Nashville, and many nieces and nephews.
As an Army Veteran, Mr. Austin served his country with pride for four years. After his military service, he went in the commercial construction business for 30 years. He enjoyed farming for many years during his retirement; and was an avid UT Volunteer fan.
A private graveside memorial will be held at Harriman City Cemetery with Shawn Durham officiating and Schubert Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
