Frank Collings Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gooch Funeral Homes & Crematory - Rockville on Dec. 30, 2025.
Frank Jason Collings, 51, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1974, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and love for his community.
Frank was the son of Delores and Dallas Collings. He is survived by his loving wife Lori; his children Hunter and Emily; his mother Delores; his siblings Brad (Becky) Collings, Brian (Michelle) Collings, and Tracy Collings Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was a devoted husband, dad, son, brother, friend, and neighbor. He married the love of his life, Lori Byrd, on September 8, 2001. Together they built a beautiful life and a strong family. Frank was happiest when he was with his wife and children, whom he loved above all else. He built their family home with his own hands, just as he built many homes throughout Parke County as the owner of Collings Construction. He was also an agent for Base Camp Country Real Estate. His work stands as a lasting part of the community he cared so deeply about.
Frank was an avid hunter and went on many trips, hunting deer and turkeys with his best friend and cousin, J.R. Reece, traveling to Florida and beyond. He loved elk hunting in Colorado with his nephew Ethan and "The Elk Club Boys." Frank also made two once-in-a-lifetime hunting trips to Africa. Above all, he loved taking trips with his family to St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, Disney World, and camping, creating memories they will treasure forever.
Frank's heart for service showed in many ways. He was a volunteer member and Assistant Chief of the Bridgeton Fire Department and took great pride in giving back. For many years he coached youth baseball in Rosedale. Each year, he and Lori made and sold Collings Covered Bridge Fudge at the Covered Bridge Festival, a tradition many looked forward to.
In 2020, Frank was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Over the years that followed, he endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, two bone marrow transplants, and countless challenges. Through it all, he fought with strength and grace, never complaining and always thinking of others.
Over the last few years, Frank began to feel God chasing after him and he made the most important decision of his life and submitted his heart to the Lord. He was later baptized in Big Raccoon Creek in front of family and friends. Frank and his family attended Bridgeton Baptist Church, where his faith continued to grow.
Frank will be remembered for his quick wit, quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and kindness that will continue to live on through all who knew him.
Services will be held at the Rockville Christian Church, Saturday, January 3, 2026. Visitation is noon to 3:00pm with a special tribute to Frank immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "Hunters Helping Hunters." A donation box will be available at the visitation.
