Frank Van De Zande, 65, of Wood Dale, Illinois, passed away on January 16, 2024. Frank was the loving son of Rose Mary and the late Leo Van De Zande, dearest brother of Susan, Denise, and Paul, cherished uncle of Zachary, Angela, Cody, Makayla, and Sierra. Frank graduated from Illinois State University and worked in the financial industry for many years.
Frank retired at the age of 60 and appreciated the time he spent with family and friends. He was a huge sports fan and he never missed a game with his Chicago teams. He loved to tailgate with his friends at the Bears games and he was a devoted Cubs fan who went to see his home team at spring training in Arizona. Frank was an avid collector of many things and enjoyed shopping at antique stores. He was passionate about reading books on every subject.
Frank cherished his annual fishing trip to Canada and had many stories to tell of his adventures. At home, he got together with his college buddies as often as he could and played old-fashioned board games like Risk, Monopoly, Chess, and Cribbage. He was fiercely competitive and there was always a challenge to be won with a coveted prize.
Frank was a compassionate friend. If you were just meeting him, you would think he was quite reserved but it would not take long to learn that he was a very kind and caring, intelligent individual with a bit of a quirky sense of humor. He will be remembered and missed by many.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Frank in June 2024.

Shocked and so sorry to hear of your passing. It was seeing your unit which led me to living in Stationwalk. I had many fun times with you. Having block parties, serving on the board with you, riding the train. Blessings and prayers to your family. You are missed. Thank you for all your friendship. Pat and Susie Fiege

Frank,
I´m so very sorry to learn of your passing.
I have been thinking about you lately, and decided to look you up to send you a note.
We lost touch for a bit, and I was hoping to have dinner again, and another Scrabble game, or ten (as you would say).
Thank you for your friendship, and the always great conversation.
Much peace to you, and much comfort to those who are grieving your loss.

xo,
Sandra
