Frank DeMaio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Morganville on Dec. 4, 2025.
Frank J. DeMaio passed away peacefully at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel on December 2, 2025, just six days shy of his 75th birthday. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frank and Rose (Carmicino) DeMaio, he has lived in Morganville for the last twelve years.
A veteran of the United States Army National Guard, Frank was honorably discharged in 1976 after serving six years as a SP4 E-4. His professional career was working as a Production Director but retired as a school bus driver for First Student – a job he absolutely loved and enjoyed spending time with the children. He often would quiz the children and give them questions to find the answers too and would look forward to the answers the next day.
In his youth, Frank was very good at sports and enjoyed basketball and paddle ball but worked to almost being drafted by the NY Yankees as a catcher, a team he would follow his entire life and become a beloved fan. Frank loved to smoke cigars and talk with his friends and looked forward to poker nights with the Chelsea Neighbors. In his spare time, he liked to play solitaire and complete crossword puzzles, but his true passion in life was being a husband, father, and especially a grandfather.
Predeceased by his siblings; brother Joe and his wife Eleanor, sister Marie and brother-in-law Angelo. He leaves behind his loving wife Anna (Mazzeo) DeMaio and their children; Michael and his wife Connie, Steven and his wife Alyssa and Angela and her husband Chris. He will be missed deeply by his grandchildren; Paige, Kayla, Rose, Sienna, Sadie and Sydney as well as his brother-in-law Tony and sister-in-law Dee.
Visitation will be held at Waitt Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751 on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2pm until 7pm. On Monday, December 8, 2025, celebrating Frank's 75th birthday, a funeral mass will begin at 11am at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733 followed by mausoleum entombment at St. Gabriel Cemetery & Mausoleum, 546 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro, NJ 07746.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent in Franks name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated.

Anna, Steven,Michael, Angela & families,
Both Rosie & I were saddened to hear of Frankie´s passing.
We remember all the good times, the laughter, always fun times. Going back and forth on the belt parkway from Brooklyn to Long Island Frankie knew when the Jethro Tull tape changed tracks. When Rosie asked him what the words to "a whiter Shade of Pale " was he put his hands in his face & admitted "I don´t know...I mumble the words"
The kids grew up together at the SI block parties...,he even knew when the wind "shifted " & it was time to go indoors!
Frankie we miss you now we will miss you , your kind & loving heart for all time
Rosie & Nicky

Frank was my client at Newmarket Press. We worked closely together on a number of projects, including traveling on press. He was always professional, and always great fun. I am sad to learn of his passing. My deep condolences to Frank's family and friends.
