Frank Flanagan Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Frank J. Flanagan, of Southampton, PA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed away peacefully after long and well fought battles against both leukemia and Parkinson's. Frank was born in Philadelphia to Mary (nee Keating) and Francis Flanagan. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Fran; daughters, Janice Buchalski (Joseph) and Joan Flanagan; grandchildren, Francesca, Erin and Kyla; siblings, Chuck Flanagan (Barbara), Mary Lou Flanagan, and Bill Flanagan.

Prior to joining the Marine Corps at eighteen, Frank enjoyed strutting down Broad Street as a drummer in the Uptown String Band. He served in the Vietnam War, stationed in Iwakuni, Japan with assignments to DaNang. He then completed his service at Camp Lejeune. Upon honorable discharge from the service, Frank married the cherished love of his life, Fran, and had two daughters, Jan and Joan. Frank took great pride in selflessly protecting, caring for, and providing for his family. He made countless wonderful memories camping, boating, and traveling with his beloved family.

Frank enjoyed working as a construction operator and electrician for many years, and after moving to Southampton in 1971, he became a lifelong member of the Southampton Fire Company. Some of his many roles included Vice President, Chief Engineer, and Trustee. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed coaching softball, skiing, and feeding his backyard feathered friends. It was well known that there was nothing that Frank couldn't fix, so he would often be found working at family and friends' homes, Our Lady of Good Counsel, and the firehouse - whenever he could find time away from Fran's Honey Do List! Once his grandchildren arrived, Frank treasured his three "tooties". Some of his happiest moments were spending time with Francesca and her horses, watching the Phillies with Erin, and enjoying times with Kyla in Florida, especially the Dolphin Research Center.

Relatives and friends are invited to Frank's Life Celebration on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave, Southampton, PA. Guests have been invited to honor Frank's style by wearing a denim or plaid shirt and blue jeans. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with Military Honors being rendered, along with the Rite of Christian Burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Frank J. Flanagan may be made to the Southampton Fire Company, The Leukemia Foundation, or The Parkinson's Foundation.
