Frank Grebowski Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes - Peters Township - McMurray on Jan. 14, 2025.
Frank L. Grebowski passed away on January 10, 2025 at the age of 86 surrounded by his children and beloved wife Angela. Born in Hazleton, PA on October 30,1938 to Frank C. Grebouski and Helen Harmanski, he was the oldest of 3 children, with a brother Tom and sister Mary Ann. Growing up, Frank was a wonderful son, a good student, and a star basketball player whose record of 48 points in a game wasn't broken until recently.
Frank left Hazleton to attend Duquesne University, where he pursued a degree in business and played on the basketball team. It was there that he met the love of his life, Angela Fulco, on the street corner during move-in day her freshman year. They married in August of 1959 and remained devoted to each other for over 65 years. Frank began a career in sales, which moved his family from NJ to OH and back to PA. Eventually Frank and Angela's love of Pittsburgh led them to Upper St. Clair to raise their family, and the two of them became fixtures of their community, forging friendships that would last a lifetime. His annual fantasy football draft, which he began back in the 70s/80s, was especially popular with his Montclair buddies who affectionately referred to him as "the Commish." Frank also began his own company, Computerized Agency Accounting (CAA), which was merged with Redshaw, Inc. and was eventually bought by The Hartford.
Frank retired early, but was far from idle. He and Angela played in bridge groups, had a golf membership at the St. Clair Country Club in Upper St. Clair, PA and the West Bay Club in Estero, FL, collected art, and worked on their beautiful garden. Even in his quieter moments, Frank was always trying to challenge his mind by reading, playing Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and DuoLingo (where he had a 2533 day streak). Frank enjoyed classical music, was a board member, and an avid patron and supporter of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He also held season tickets for both the Pittsburgh Opera and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Frank's love of food and culture was boundless, and he embraced his wife's Italian heritage as if it was his own while still holding his own Polish and Lithuanian heritage close. He generously shared that love with family and friends, and was delighted when he and Angela were able to take his children and grandchildren to Italy. Frank was the pillar of our family. He and Angela have built and nurtured our loving bond as only they could, welcoming each new member, whether from birth or married in. He taught us about our heritage and traditions at every opportunity, and helped us grow closer together by doing so. It is this legacy, this family bond, that has enabled us to get through the past several weeks and months as Dad's health declined. Everything about Dad was big. He loved big, thought big, had a big voice, big open arms, and the biggest heart. He would (and could) move mountains to help any one of us.
He is survived by his loving wife Angela, son Frank (Leona), daughter ChrisAnne (Eric) Gardner, daughter-in law Laurie Grebowski, daughter Caryn (Fernando) Argeles, and daughter Caryl (Chris) Maltese. Frank was adored by his 14 grandchildren & their spouses Jessica (George), Jamie (Greg), Chelsea (Querent), Sarah (Zack), Emma (Tommy), Ellie, Alexis (Joe), Peter, Joshua, Nicole, Emily, Abby, Sophie, and Avery, his 3 step-grandchildren Alex, Annabelle, & Evelynn and his great grandsons Brennan, Benedict, Julian, Malcolm, and Adam. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ann (Joseph) Gotch.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Thomas Grebouski. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son David. Our sadness at their passing is somewhat eased by the knowledge that father and son have been reunited.
