Frank Hilbert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zacherl Funeral Home - Fond du Lac on May 3, 2024.
Frank "Franko" James Hilbert, 49, of Fond du Lac, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on February 25, 1975, in Fond du Lac.
Frank, known to many as "FUN FRANK," was a happy, fun-loving friend to all. He had a contagious spirit that brought joy to everyone around him. Frank's willingness to entertain would ensure others had a great time and made him a beloved figure in his community.
Frank loved family above all. Coaching his two boys Bryce and Lukas in baseball in St. Peter, he was a board member of the athletic club, also coached YMCA flag football and JV tackle football at SMSA. He totally enjoyed working with the athletes.
Taking his boys to the cottage in Boulder Jct. or his grandparents place on the Tomahawk River fishing and horsing around on the jet ski was his joy.
Frank's first trip to Canada with his dad, grandpa, uncles, and cousins was a huge success. Of course, a return trip was in order.
Franko also loved elk and bear archery hunting with his dad, grandpa, and uncles in Colorado. He bagged three trophy white tails on hunts in Illinois and Kansas.
Frank fished in Walleye Weekend several times with his dad with mixed results. That didn't matter to Frank, it was quality time with his dad. However, when it came to the many trips to Lake Erie, this was a passion for Frank. Erie was a rite of passage. Frank, his son Bryce, his dad, uncle Bill, nephew Max and a strange bunch of friends would descend on the Western Basin to raise cane on the monster walleyes. What a time we had for many years. It just won't be the same without fun Frank.
Franko's bowling accolades are astounding. He attained over 22 perfect games, as well as several 800 series. Frank was accurate and entertaining to watch bowl; He got wound up and animated when stringing strikes.
Those Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory include his sons, Bryce and Lukas; parents, Gary and Mary Jo (Shea) Hilbert; sisters, Jo Gilgenbach (Scott) and Jen Braun (Joseph); nephews & nieces, Carson Gilgenbach, Nickolas Gilgenbach, Victoria Braun, Rylee Gilgenbach, Emma Braun and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Frank was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Hilbert, Joseph and Anna Marie Shea; aunts & uncles, Tamara Hilbert, Thomas Hilbert & Larry Shea.
SERVICES: Frank's family invites relatives and friends for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 9th at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th Street Way. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
Frank will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Charitable contributions in memory of Frank can be made to the Fond du Lac ARC or Big Brothers Big Sisters.
