Frank Evan John

 

Frank Evan John III, a beloved family man, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2023. He was born on July 20, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Colonel Frank Evan John II and the late Anne Mary John. Throughout his life, Frank touched the hearts of many with his strong faith, love of family, dedication to his career, and profound passion for baseball.

While attending Elizabethtown College, Frank met the love of his life, Cornelia (Jones) John. Married for 55 years, they built a loving family that became the center of Frank's world. His devotion to his wife and family was unwavering until the very end. 

He is survived by Cornelia and their five children, Frank JohnIV, Alanna Griffin (Derek), Amanda Walker (Chad), Leanna Worrall (Jared), and Timothy John (Amanda). To carry on his memory are his grandchildren: Savanna Griffin, Evan John, Dakota Griffin, Emily John, Coral Walker, Allie John, Kai Walker, Cobi Walker, Wynn Worrall, Josie John, Everlea Worrall, and Cove Walker. He is also survived by his sister, JoAnne Hoffman (Bob), sisters-in-law, Pamela Powell, and Deborah Jones Zeilinger (Ernie), brother-in-law, Richard Jones (Joan) and nephews: John Gautier, Bill Gautier, Richard Jones, Brian Jones, Randy Jones, and Doug Powell, along with several other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon (Craig) John. 

Frank excelled as a sales professional for over 55 years. The past 15 years of which were with Aramsco. He exhibited exceptional skills in connecting with people and helping them in times of need. His dedication to assisting others during challenging situations left an indelible mark on those he served.

Baseball held a special place in Frank's heart. An enthusiastic fan of the Atlanta Braves, he cheered them on through thick and thin. But Frank's love for the game extended beyond being a spectator; he also actively participated in it. He was a stand-out pitcher at WT Woodson High School (VA) and Elizabethtown College (PA). For an astounding 42 years, he has played in the MSBL (Men's Senior Baseball League), where he has won 7 national championships, several MVP awards and was inducted into the Blue Mountain & Lehigh Valley Hall of Fames - showcasing not only his talent but also his commitment to the sport he loved. His skills were so remarkable that he received invitations to try out for major league teams such as the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Philadelphia Phillies. Not only was he an outstanding baseball player, but he also excelled as a flag football quarterback in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he and his team won many state championships and took the national title in 1976. 

Frank was also an avid runner. In the late 1990s, he ran over 9800 miles in 3 years and did not miss a single day of running for over 1200 days. Rain, snow, or freezing temperatures, you would find him running around town (something he was known for while residing in Clarks Summit, PA.)

Frank cherished time spent with his family and created treasured memories with each one of them. His generosity, competitive spirit, silly dad jokes, and infectious humming & singing, will forever be remembered. 

On November 19, at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a visitation will take place to honor Frank's life. This will allow family, friends, and acquaintances to gather and pay their respects.

The funeral service will be held the following day, November 20, at 11:00 am at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock. The service will be a moment to celebrate Frank's life, reflect on the beautiful memories shared, and find solace in the cherished legacy he leaves behind.
