Frank Allen King, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his home in Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, January 16, 2026, at Freedom Baptist Church, on 471 Stone Rd. in Reidsville, with Pastor Ron Warner officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Assistant Pastor Noah Hooper officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday night at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM and other times at the home.
Frank was born on August 6, 1948, in Rockingham County. He grew up in Summerfield and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 as a missile transporter and dental assistant. He retired from the City of Reidsville in 2003 after 30 years of service. Frank enjoyed tinkering and was known as a handy man. He also enjoyed family vacations at the outer banks and loved his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Janice, the love of his life for 53 years. He loved his church, but more than anything he loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Talmadge and Viola Woods; sisters, Margaret Swaim and Brenda Canady; sister-in-law, Carol Taylor; brother-in-law’s, Donnie Minnicks and Bob Swaim.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Janice S. King; daughter, Joy K. Smith; grandson, Matthew Watlington and Amanda; granddaughter, Jessica S. Turley and husband, Tyler; great-granddaughter, Paisley Marie Watlington and one great-granddaughter on the way, Adaline Rose Turley sister, Frances Minnick; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Freedom Baptist Church, 471 Stone Rd., Reidsville, NC 27320, or to the Rockingham County Honor Guard, 4655 Price Rd., Stoneville, NC 27048.
