Francis Roscoe Lange, also known as "Uncle Frank" to most who knew him, passed away peacefully with his daughter Melanie by his side at Rosebud Healthcare Center in
Forsyth, MT on January 22, 2026 at 87 years young (as he would say)!
Frankie was born on November 12 th, 1938 to Jean (Cramer) and Frank Lange in Angela, Montana. He was the oldest son in a farm & ranch family on Rosebud Creek with eleven children (4 boys and 7 girls) which made for a wonderful childhood growing up in the country with animals and adventures! Needless to say, his electric personality and big smile got him into trouble a time or two over the years growing up in Eastern Montana!
Frank graduated from Rosebud High School in 1956 and studied at Carroll College in Helena for a year. Frank entered the Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged a short time later. Frank was an amazing musician – a saxophone player -he and his band began playing gigs which eventually led to him being on "American Bandstand". His sister Pat recalls the family had to travel into Rosebud to the service station to watch Frank perform on TV because they didn't have a television set at the ranch!
Frank began his lifelong career as a salesman with his larger-than-life personality and ability to make anyone he met smile with a story or a joke! He started his career selling pots and pans, then moved on to automobiles, next was Kirby vacuum cleaners and finally motor homes in Las Vegas!
Frank had three amazing children: Michael Lange, Melanie Teschendorf and Anthony Lange who brought him such joy over the years!
Frank was the "Uncle" that every niece and nephew in his large extended family looked forward to seeing whether it was at a holiday celebration on the Rosebud Creek or a drive thru visit to Montana. He had stories, candy and "pennies" to share with his entourage and left them with such amazing memories to share with the next generation! There was always a crowd around "Uncle Frank" at any gathering he attended!
After he retired, he settled in Billings for a short time and then relocated to Forsyth where he spent the last 15 years. He worked shortly for the BNSF Railroad part time as a driver delivering conductors to various train depots and he helped drive trucks, tractors, hay trailers and ran parts at the Hollowell Ranch in Mission Valley for many years!
Frank's survivors include his sister Pat Lenton from Tuscon, AZ; brother Dennis (Robin) Lange from Rosebud Creek, MT; brother Bryan (Terra) Lange from
Las Vegas, NV; daughter Melanie (Rick) Teschendorf from Minnesota; son Michael Lange from North Carolina; son Anthony Lange from Tuscon, AZ; cousins Jeannie Arellano from California; Jimmy Brown (Helen) from
Billings, MT; Valerie Cramer, Judy Kuhl and Jennifer Cramer from Hysham, MT.
Frank was blessed with seven grandchildren: Samantha Lange ; Ricky (Jessica) Teschendorf; Johnathan (Jenny ) Teschendorf ; Annie (Logan) Fassler; Maggie (Curtis ) Holst; Austin Lange and Jessica Lange and nine great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Jean and Frank Lange. Sisters: Mary Spurlock, Diana Hollowell, Theresa Blackman, Kathy Warner, Veronica Mavencamp, Virginia Lange and brother Tim Lange. Brother-in-laws Doug Hollowell, Danny Blackman, Cactus Warner, Wayne Lenton and sister-in-law Jere Lange.
A celebration of life will be held in Forsyth in the spring. Thank you to the entire staff at Rosebud Healthcare Center for taking such wonderful care of Frank and a special thank you to Punky and Brenda Zastoupil for being the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and visit or called Uncle Frank during his brief stay in the hospital. He kept everyone laughing until the end of his time here on earth with us. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched…until we meet again!
