Frank Mastrella, (aka: Blackie), 88 passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at Willow Springs, in Brick, NJ. He was born in Jersey City and lived in Bayonne for most of his life, until settling in Jersey City.
As a longtime resident, Frank owned the Evergreen Bar & Lounge, while still working in the field of construction. After selling the bar, he continued in construction and worked in the Brick Layers Union. In the later years of his career, he found new work with the Garden State Parkway in the maintenance department, where he eventually retired from.
He loved playing poker, taking day trips to the casino, going to the beach, swimming, taking walks down the park and talking with his friends along the way, his annual family & friend guy trips he would take every year to Vegas, etc., his get togethers with his GS Parkway friends, Pizza Master for his sausage rolls, watching Jeopardy, NY Yankees and going to the flea market every weekend, taking trips to CA and FL to visit his loving family, donating to many charities, along with so many other wonderful things.
He was predeceased by his wife, Linda; his mother Pauline; his sister Frances and his brother Vincent "James".
Surviving Frank are his children, Frank (Genifer) Mastrella, Susan (Brian) Bornstein and Jennifer (Tommy) Glunk; His brother Vito (Janet); His Grandchildren, Rhiannon (Craig); Alec (Mary); Ariel (Chris); His Great Grandson, Vincent Franco; His Beloved niece Paula (Bruce), who was like a daughter to him, and many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Frank will be remembered for his great love for family, his sense of humor, his "long story short" stories that he loved to talk about and tell. He will be deeply missed and will always remain forever in our hearts.
All services will be private and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.

I am so sorry for your loss. Frank was such a strong man full of life who loved his children and fought a battle with no complaints. I lived on the 2d floor and we would take the van service and I had the pleasure to hear of his cherished past moments. He is at peace now and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I will surely miss him as I have since I received the news from his Son In-law. RIP my friend. Irene Schaffer.

Rest in Peace my dear father-in-law. Thank you for always making me feel like part of the family! I am sure my Dad is waiting for you with some project that he has in mind. Thank you for always loving Rhiannon and Vinny and please watch over them. May you spend eternity pain free and with those you love; we will all meet again. Love, Gen
