Of North Braddock, age 87, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Born the son of the late Blaz Matesic and the late Anna (Evancic) Matesic.
Beloved husband of Lynda Lee (Wehrer) Matesic for 59 years.
Loving father of Patricia (Michael) Sam of Washington, PA and Dana (Gary) Hoffman of Chalfant.
Frank was preceded in death by his siblings; Michael Matesic, Robert "B" Matesic, Joseph Matesic, Mary Chuckro, Katie Matesic, Anna McMahon, and Barbara Matesic.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and his "grand-pups", Milo and Salem.
Frank was born and raised in the town of Rankin and was a graduate of Rankin High School. Towards the end of the Korean War, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country as a member of the crew for the USS Valcour. Following his time in the Navy, Frank returned home and settled in North Braddock before embarking on a successful 35-year career in steel manufacturing. Over the years, he was employed locally with the steel mills of Homestead, Duquesne, Edgar Thompson, and Irvin Works, mastering several different positions within each mill. Frank was a devout Catholic and member of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed the relaxation of hunting and fishing. Frank treasured the many trips taken alongside his friends to Old Man's Lake in Ontario, Canada. He was an animal lover and was a talented trainer of Beagle dogs.
Friends are welcome on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
Frank will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 875 Greentree Rd. Building 7, Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
