Frank Russell McLeskey passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in
Fairfax Station, Virginia. He was born on December 1, 1940, in
Vicksburg, Mississippi, to James Joseph McLeskey Jr. and Dorothy Catherine McLeskey.
Frank grew up in Vicksburg and attended St. Aloysius High School before earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. He went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, dedicating 20 years to military service and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the Army, he also earned an M.S. in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School. After completing his military career, Frank continued his professional work at SAIC, concluding a lifetime of service marked by discipline, intelligence, and integrity.
Frank met the love of his life, Karma Squires, on December 31, 1968, during a blind date at a Military New Year's Eve dance. It was truly love at first sight-Frank knew immediately that Karma was someone extraordinary. After a heartfelt courtship, they were married on November 1, 1969, and built a beautiful life together. They were blessed with four children: Eric (Heather), Brian (Mary), Alison (Erik), and Michael (Kara), and later with 18 beloved grandchildren who brought them endless joy.
On January 6, 1986, Frank experienced a profound conversion to Jesus Christ-a moment that reshaped every aspect of his life. From that day forward, his faith became his guiding light. He was a devoted follower of Christ, deeply committed to prayer, scripture study, and sharing the Gospel with others. He actively participated in Cursillo and a prayer group and found great meaning in ministering to friends, strangers, and anyone in need. He carried a cross not only as a symbol of Christ but as a personal reminder to live with compassion, grace, and purpose.
Frank lived his faith through action. He spent many years volunteering at The Lamb Center, supporting the homeless, and spreading encouragement through Angel Tree and his cherished "Pass It On" cards. He was known for his generosity, warmth, and commitment to "showing up"-especially for his family. In his later years, he loved
attending his grandchildren's baby blessings, baptisms, dance recitals, sports events, weddings, missionary farewells and homecomings, graduations, and birthdays.
Creative and tender-hearted, Frank had a gift for storytelling-especially the imaginative, whimsical stories he crafted for his children and grandchildren. He delighted in simple joys: playing tennis and golf, hiking with Karma, playing disc golf with his children, running around Burke Lake, and enjoying beach trips with family. His kindness was ever-present, often shared through thoughtful words, scriptures, "Kindness Rocks," and small acts of grace that touched countless lives.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy McLeskey, and his two brothers, James Joseph McLeskey III and John Halpin McLeskey.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karma; his four children and their spouses; his 18 grandchildren; his sister, Kathleen McLeskey; and his sisters-in-law, Sandra McLeskey and Linda McLeskey.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. His life was a testament to the power of devotion-to God, to family, and to the simple but profound act of lifting others up. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
