Frank Ortiz

Frank Ortiz (Jose), loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on March 22, 2017 with loving family members at his side. Frank was born in Santa Fe, NM on April 20, 1937 to Antonio Ortiz and Maria Cleofas Ortiz. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Angie Muniz and Candelaria Ortiz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen (Trujillo); his children, Ernestine Martinez (Raymond), Lorraine Archibeque (Anthony), Rosemary Torres (Richard) and Anthony Ortiz; grandchildren, Angelica (Antonio), Richard (Jaclyn), Daniella (James), Raymond, Alicia (Matthew) and Francesca (Gerardo); great-grandchildren, Marissa, Elias, Rayann, Daymon, LilyAnn, Stella and Maximus; sisters, Rose Wilbourn, Antonia Valera, Mary Montano; brothers, Louie Ortiz (Carmen), Jim Ortiz, David Ortiz (Mary Lee) and many other relatives.
Frank graduated from Santa Fe High School. He was also an employee of Galles Chevrolet for 36 years. He was a master of the arts - he was a leather maker, jewelry maker, woodcarver and painter. Frank also enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family. His son, Anthony, was always by his side as he would camp, fish and hunt. He also loved tending to his garden.
Frank shared his love for music with his family as well as at many Senior and Community Centers. He would perform on his keyboard or guitar and sing while accompanied on vocals by his wife, Helen. Frank was also a member of the Spanish Choir at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and a past member of the choir at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church.
A Rosary will be recited Monday, March 27, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:15 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW in Albuquerque. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Martinez, Richard Torres, Antonio Sierra, Gerardo Grijalva, Matthew Perez and James O'Connor.
