Frank Overstrom Obituary

Frank Henning Overstrom Glenville - Frank Henning Overstrom, 97, formerly longtime Charlton and Clifton Park resident, died on June 18th at Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville, NY.
He was born on June 8, 1927, in Corning, NY and was the son of Ralph and Julia (Andersen) Overstrom, brother of Arthur, twins Leon and Loren, twins Donald and Dorothy, and triplets Norman, Norma and Nora.
Frank was an Eagle Scout and played baseball at Northside High School in Corning, NY. He graduated in 1945 and went straight on to serve honorably in the US Navy where he was stationed defending the Panama Canal. Later, he attended and graduated from SUNY Oswego where he earned his bachelor's degree in industrial arts. On November 18, 1950, he married his childhood best friend and sweetheart, Marilyn Cowles and together they lived a full and wholesome life for more than 73 years. After marriage he went off to work as a teacher in Geneva, NY for a short number of years while pursuing a master's degree at Cornell University. In 1954 Frank joined General Electric Co. in Ithaca, NY as assistant manager of employee relations. His fulfilling professional career included stops at GE facilities in Lynn, MA and Schenectady, NY (Knolls Atomic Power Lab and the Main Plant) where he assumed progressive management responsibilities to senior manager of employee relations until retiring in 1986 after 32 years.
Frank was a Mason and belonged to the Fidelity Hobasca Lodge Masonic Temple, Ithaca, NY. He enjoyed his large family, first and foremost. He was an avid golfer, bowler and an accomplished furniture woodworker and carpenter.
He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Cowles) Overstrom; loving father of Eric (Karen) Overstrom, Dawn (the late Thomas) Dorsey and Polly Overstrom (Goldfarb; Paul Charbonneau); grandfather of Danika and Joshua Dorsey, Mallory and Anders Overstrom, Jacqueline Petit (Goldfarb); great grandfather of Lincoln & Lewis, Olive, Gavin & Sullivan and Elin, and uncle to 21 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesville United Methodist Church, 963 Main Street, Jonesville, NY.
Interment will be held privately at a later date in Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.

I was sad to see that Frank had passed away. I remember Frank when I was growing up in Lansing, NY. Frank and Marylin lived a short bike ride away. I also remember my Dad (Matt Christopher) and my uncle Carl Krupa (better know as uncle Gus) and Frank all on the same bowling team. They bowled in Groton, NY and they would car pool. Frank was a great person, knowledgeable, and a humble man. He will be missed.

I´m sad to see that my dear friend has passed away. My memories of Frank take me back to Lansing, NY. Frank and Marylin lived close by. My dad (Matt Christopher) and my uncle, Carl Krupa ( better known as uncle Gus) all bowled on the same team, I think in Groton NY. They would not miss a game even if there was a snowstorm. He was a great man. RIP Dale Christopher
