Frank D. Pecman

Age 77, of Shaler Twp., passed away on December 26, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.  Frank was born in Pittsburgh, to the late Frank and Irene Pecman; beloved husband to the late Patty Pecman; loving father(step) of Jill (Michael) Camardese, Moon Township, John (Nicole) McGowan Jr., Moon Township and Brad “Pooky” (Stacey) McGowan, Kennedy Township; cherished grandfather “Pap” to seven grandchildren, Dennis “Jummers” (Marisa) McGowan and Zachary McGowan, Shannon, Colby and Brendan Camardese, Tyler and Larissa McGowan, and two great grandchildren, Quinn and Xander McGowan;  brother to Betty Ann (Gabe) Sirota, Knox, PA.  He is also survived by many friends. 

Frank lived his entire life in Shaler.  He graduated from Central Catholic High School, and then University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a football scholarship.  Frank spent his career of 32 years at Shaler Area School District, teaching history and psychology, and coaching girls’ track and football.  He was recently inducted into the Shaler Area Athletic Hall of Fame for his years of coaching accomplishments.

He loved his family, spending time with the grandkids, Pitt, high school sports, his late wife’s baking, and golf.

Celebrate Frank's life with his family on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Shaler Twp. where Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM.
