Frank Joseph Repasky, 88, of Pottsville, Pa., a former resident of Pleasantville, Pa., passed away on May 13, 2025, in Pottsville Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.
Frank was born to the late Frank S. and Martha J. (Wonner) Repasky on October 31, 1936, in East Palestine, OH. His father worked on and retired from the railroad, while his mother was a homemaker, working in the garden, canning, and baking. Times were not easy, and living through the Great Depression brought a dependency on living off the land and providing for your own family. He had two brothers: Paul G. Repasky of East Palestine, OH, and John M. Repasky, previously of Pleasantville, Pa.
Frank attended East Palestine High School in Ohio, during that time Frank was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball and track. He enlisted in the US Army from 1955-1958, where he served three years as an MP, Military Police. While stationed at Ft. Stewart, Ga., he played center on the Army football team. He married Barbara (Lavallee) Repasky on Nov. 28, 1957, in the Post Chapel on base. They started their life together in Petersburg, OH. following his enlistment. Ultimately, they would settle in Pleasantville, Pa., in 1967 where they would raise their six children.
Frank started a job in drilling water wells in Petersburg, Ohio area. He then would later start his own business in drilling oil & gas wells out of Pleasantville, Pa., which would become a family-run business until the end of his career.
Frank was a generous, kind, and giving person. He had a love of giving gifts to others, whether it be family, friends, or just someone less fortunate. He had a passion for work, which was driven by that giving nature. The more he made, the more he could give to help others.
Religion was instilled in Frank from a very young age by his parents, which he carried with him his whole life. Even though Frank struggled with chronic health issues, he never complained about his ailments but would be more excited about Jesus.
He was an active member of the Pleasantville Community Church for 20 plus years. He then would change to the Church of the Nazarene, followed by the Assembly of God. Religion was always a strong active role throughout his life. He had a passion for Jesus, the Bible, and witnessing to others.
Frank's love for all his children was evident, however, his greatest pride was being with his boys. He liked nothing more than to spend time watching them grow, play sports, then eventually work alongside them in the oil fields. He was truly proud of them. He was firm but a loving father and will be greatly missed by all of us.
His grandchildren were his fondest blessings in life. You could almost see his heart smile through his chest whenever they were around. Nothing seemed to bring the joy that these children could.
Frank also enjoyed the NFL football season. He had a deep commitment as a Cleveland Browns fan, which never wavered, but maybe should have been rethought after years of disappointing fourth quarters.
Frank is survived by his son Rick (Lisa) Repasky of Pleasantville, Pa., daughter Karen (Dave) Vanderhoof of Shelby, NC, son Jeff (Becky) Repasky of Titusville, Pa., son Chris (Amy) Repasky of Pleasantville, Pa., daughter Marcia (Brian) Henderson of Pottsville, Pa., and brother John Repasky, previously of Pleasantville, Pa., and loyal friend Tim Mott of Titusville, Pa.
Along with 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Kay Repasky, granddaughter Tracy Vanderhoof, grandson Kevin Repasky, grandson Justin Repasky, great-grandson Cameron Graham, Father Frank S. Repasky, Mother Martha J. Repasky, and brother Paul G. Repasky.
The viewing will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, Pa. 16354. A funeral service will immediately follow with Reverend Bill Hopkins, interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville, Pa. Full Military rites will be observed.
We would like to add a special thank you to the staff from Gardens at York Terrace Nursing Home in Pottsville, Pa. for their hard work, continuous kindness, and constant care of our father. Dad always referred to your facility as his home. After spending his last few days with him there, it was evident why he called your facility home. Everyone that knew him from the nurses, aids, physical therapist, housekeeping, laundry, or kitchen all treated him with such love, kindness and respect. There were so many staff members who came in to check on him, or share a story with him of the bond they shared. It was evident of the love that surrounded him.
In lieu of flowers, monetary and gift card donations may be mailed to 2401 West Market Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 in Frank's memory for their activity fund. Checks can be made payable to Gardens at York Terrace with "activities fund" in the memo.
