Frank Rizio Obituary

Frank (Fortunato) Rizio, 94, passed on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at West Shore Hospital with his daughter and son by his side. He was born in Lemoyne, PA on November 26, 1930. He graduated from Lemoyne High School in the Class of 1949.
He retired as a clerk from Conrail after 30 years of service and was a US Navy Korean War era veteran who served on the USS Brownson from 1949 to 1953. He loved to tell stories of the places the ship sailed in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and the North Atlantic. In later years, he attended several ship's reunions where he was able to reconnect with old shipmates. This led to some lasting friendships where he and his wife would travel to Derby Line, Vermont and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to visit other couples.
Up until the past few years, he always had to be busy doing some type of activity, whether it was remodeling his house or his daughter and son-in-law's house or hanging out at their pool in the summer. Doing yard work, pet sitting his grand dogs or grocery shopping were other activities he enjoyed. He was never one to sit still.
He had a tremendous love of dogs particularly German Shepherds which are such a loyal breed. Kelly Ann was his extremely devoted companion for 12 years. He loved the last two dogs they owned, Ginger and April as well as his previous grand dogs, Tobbi, Brittany, and Molly Belle Krushinsky.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Fortunato and Antoniella Rizio, two brothers Charles (Charlie) and Pasquale (Pat) Rizio, and three sisters Ann Kidd, Pauline Miller and Dolly Stone. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen (Cain) Rizio, daughter Valerie R. Krushinsky (husband Mark) of Camp Hill, son Jeffrey Rizio also of Camp Hill and his two rescue grand dogs, Annie Mae and Riley Jean Krushinsky. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PA Dogs for Vets at https://www.padogsforvets.org/donate/ or Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue at https://brooklinelabrescue.org/get-involved/donate/ (in honor of his two current grand dogs).

Yesterday

Mary Ellen, Jeff, Valerie and Mark,
We were neighbors for 40 some years, our children grew up together and we had some wonderful times together. When we moved Frank told us we wouldn't have to worry about our neighbors bothering us and gave us his wonderful laugh. We moved across from Rolling Green Cemetery. Now we are your neighbors again. You can bother us anytime. We remember his wonderful sense of humor. Our prayers and sympathy are with you.
