Frank Daniel Schmidt, 85, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Born on January 14, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Frank lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep loyalty, and a profound love for those closest to him.
Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 20 years. As an electrician aboard Navy ships, he traveled extensively and experienced the world from the deck of those ships. His service was not only a testament to his technical skill but also to his dedication and discipline. After retiring from the Navy, Frank chose to settle in Miami, where he built a life grounded in family and personal passions.
A man of many interests, Frank was an avid collector with a particular fondness for science fiction. His collections included sci-fi books, coins, stamps, and trading cards-each item carefully chosen and cherished. He found joy in watching science fiction programs and movies that sparked his imagination and curiosity. Music was another source of comfort and inspiration for Frank; he especially enjoyed Doo Wop classics, the timeless voice of Elvis Presley, and the ethereal harmonies of Celtic Woman. Their blend of traditional Irish songs and classical pieces resonated deeply with him.
In earlier years, Frank also enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues. The camaraderie of team play and the rhythm of the game brought him great satisfaction.
Though reserved by nature, Frank revealed his true self to those fortunate enough to earn his trust. He was observant-always aware of what was happening around him-and though he could be stubborn at times, he had an undeniably big heart. He cared deeply for those close to him and never wanted to see them hurt or upset. His quiet compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who truly knew him.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Rosanna Schmidt; his daughter Colleen Schmidt; stepdaughters Christine Berlinsky and Jennifer Sharps; and three beloved grandchildren: Zachary Reach, Natalie Berlinsky, and Nicholas White. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law Clara Fregeolle; brother-in-law George Fregeolle; brother-in-law Pio Sirolli; sister-in-law Nancy Sirolli; as well as many nieces and nephews who held him dear.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Schmidt; and his parents, William and Irene Schmidt.
Frank's presence touched many lives-his kindness quietly offered but deeply felt. Those who truly knew him will remember a man who loved deeply, observed keenly, and gave generously of himself without fanfare. His absence leaves a void that cannot easily be filled.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of the quiet strength that defined his life. I´ll always remember how my dad called you "Frank the Tank", a name that captured your big heart and even bigger presence. As kids, we loved visiting you in Miami. Watching sci-fi shows together, going bowling, just being around you, it all felt like an adventure. You made us feel welcome, like part of something special. Thank you for those memories. They´ll always stay with me.
