A memorial visitation will be held Friday November 14, from 5 to 7PM and conclude with a period of remembrance and flag folding ceremony.

EDWARD C. SCHMIDT

Passed away peacefully at The North East Center For Rehabilitation and Brain Injury on Thursday November 6, 2025 he was Eighty Five.
Born in the Family Home in The Town of Rosendale, NY on January 4, 1940 a son of the late Albert and Evelyn (Kohat) Schmidt.
Ed grew up with several siblings and attended a one room school house in Whiteport, NY. He used to tell stories about having to walk the railroad tracks to get to school. Ed graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1959. He joined the US Army and proudly served our Country from 1961-1964. He was stationed at Camp Drum in Watertown, NY. Following his Military service Ed joined the National Guard and the Army Reserve. In the mid 60's Ed became a Town of Rosendale, (NY) Constable for 2 years, serving and protecting the local community. After that, Ed Joined the Teamsters Union, Local 445 and he drove Large 10 wheeler Trucks up until 1982. Ed enjoyed spending time with his three sons, they all enjoyed many years of snowmobiling together. In 1982 Ed became the trusted Night Watchman for the Ulster County Public Works facility for nearly two decades. In1983 Ed took a side job trucking Homing Pigeons, he would drive as far West as Cleveland Ohio making multiple stops along the way throughout the Southern Tier to release the birds. During this time Ed also prioritized managing his Son's Baseball Teams. Notably in 1983 winning the Babe Ruth League with a 13-1 record. As his three sons grew older, they all enjoyed Winter vacations in Sunny Isles, Fl. After Retirement, Ed worked for his son Steve, at DeWitt Mills Fence Co., Inc. He liked to keep busy, he would often show up on the weekends to lend a hand. Ed had a magic touch when it came to fixing all things, from Cars to appliances, Ed could do it all. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by Three sons; Steven C Schmidt (Jean Spoljaric), Michael E Schmidt (Sandy) and Jeffrey J. Schmidt (Amy) Grandchildren; Steven J Schmidt, Nicole L. Schmidt and Olivia K. Schmidt. Two Brothers Paul Schmidt and Walter Schmidt and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Two Sisters; Evelyn Paige and Helen Donnelly, and a brother Albert Schmidt.
