Frank Tatar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral & Cremation Services and Cemetery - North Olmsted on Mar. 11, 2026.
Frank A. Tatar, age 89, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on March 7, 2026. Born on August 30, 1936, in Centerville, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late Frank Tatar and Bill and Flora Toth (nee Janosi).

Frank shared 67 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Ella (née Riley), whom he cherished throughout his life. Together they built a strong and loving family that was always the center of his world.

He is survived by his children:

Carol Warren, Lori (Eugene) Widmer, Art Tatar, and Bryan (Zoe) Tatar.

Frank was a proud grandfather to:

James, Christine (Joe), Jade, Michael, Joseph, Timothy, Katherine (Anthony), Elizabeth, Colista-Jean, Alexis, Shannon (John) and Scottie.

He also leaves behind his adored great grandchildren:

Logan, Anthony, John, Harmony, Kian, Ella, and Carson.

Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel (John) Macauley, and his brother, Louie (Patricia) Tatar.

A man of many talents and passions, Frank was especially proud of being a private pilot. He loved flying so much that he owned his own plane. The sky was truly his second home. He also had a love of golf. His love for aviation and golfing was matched only by the love he had for his wife, his children, and every member of his growing family.

Frank was a Journeyman Plumber and was a proud, lifelong member of Local 55. During his apprenticeship he won both the city and state championships and went on to place 2nd in the national competition. He was also a devoted member of the UAW Local 1250 for many years.

A memorial service honoring Frank's life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, located at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, with a private graveside service to follow as well.

Frank will be remembered for his gentle heart and devotion to family. We know he'll be soaring above the clouds and walking the greens. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the many lives he touched.
