Francis (Frank) Andrew Thinnes Jr.
Born: February 18, 1932
Born to eternal life: July 19, 2024
Beloved son of the late Francis Andrew Thinnes & Blanche Muno Thinnes; treasured brother of the late Arlene Thinnes Arenberg (Dan) and the late Rev. John "Jack"' Muno Thinnes. Cherished husband of Ginnie. Loving father of Jane (Alan) Albert, F. Andrew III (Lenora), and Mary (Doug) Evans, and beloved "Poppie" to 8 grandchildren: Michael (Su Perera), Matthew, and Elizabeth Albert; Thomas, Kathryn, and Augie Evans; Francis and Henry Thinnes, and 1 great grandson, Leo Perera Albert. In recent years, he was graced by the care of devoted caregivers, Danny and Kim.
A kind, generous, and keenly intelligent person, Frank was devout and devoted throughout his long life, diligent in academics, his career, his Catholic faith, and with his family.
He excelled with modesty at most things in life, growing up in Skokie, IL, and graduating from St. George High School and St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, where he was recognized as Redman of the Year. He had a long and successful business career with Bornquist Inc. Chicago, IL. Frank set the bar high in an unassuming manner; a true role model to many.
Yet, his greatest asset and treasure was Ginnie, his loving wife of 66 years. They were married at St. Norbert and remained parishioners and residents of Northbrook throughout their lives, grateful to raise their 3 children there with extended family nearby. He was especially proud of his children and their children.
For relaxation he enjoyed sports of every kind, summer vacations in Door County, WI, and winters in Longboat Key, FL, sunsets and walks on the beach, grilling for the family, and poker with his friends.
His faith and fortitude sustained him through many health battles over the years. He remained steadfast throughout, sharp of mind and spirit until his last day. At age 92 he died at home with Ginnie by his side.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 12 noon until time of the Funeral Mass at 1 pm at St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook Parish, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook. Live Stream Link. Interment will be private at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook Parish (please include Frank Thinnes in memo line), 1890 Walters Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062 or St. Jude (www.stjude.org)

Brenda and I extend our deepest condolences to Ginnie and their family. We have the fondest memories of many FHRA trips, dinners and golf outings, but my favorite was the day we drove to Ingleside in a pickup truck with Ginnie and Brenda in the open bed on a cool fall day. Went to get some railroad ties at another Bornquist employee. The girls nearly froze but the laughter and memories of that day are priceless. Frank had the heart of gold and I have the utmost respect for his work ethic and dedication to his family.

We will miss Frank, and know he went straight up to heaven! I have fond memories of spending time with the Thinnes family up in Door County canoeing and eating s'mores!! I also shared many weekends at their home on Blackthorn. Love and prayers to Frank's loving family to whom he left his legacy. XOXO Kristen Poggensee

To Ginnie, Jane, Andy, and Mary,

Corina and I, and our children, are so saddened by your/our loss, and want you to know that Frank is in our prayers on his journey home.

Our friendship goes back almost 60 years when we moved our family to Redwood Lane. The good times we spent together in Northbrook, Longboat Key, Ireland, England, Italy...the cruises...Wisconsin...so many times of happiness and fun. We remember the many, many Friday nights with Joni and Bob and you...it was a treasure

Frankie was one of a kind...faithful, funny, loving...and he had a fierce love for you and his family that was obvious. I am sure that God has a special place for a good man devoted to his family and friends, but he will be sorely missed.

May God hold him in the palm of His hand.

Love from us all...
