Frank Edward Weaver, Jr., 94, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Lilac Homes Assisted Living, Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Frank was born on April 28, 1929, on the family farm near Hawley, MN, to Frank Sr. and Ida (Olson) Weaver. His family moved into Hawley where he grew up and graduated from Hawley High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Sylvia Lucille Matejka on June 4, 1950, in Hawley. He enlisted in the army, serving his country from 1952-1954 during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. After returning from his service, Frank began his career with American Crystal Sugar in 1954. He moved his family to Moorhead in 1962 to be closer to his work. After many positions with American Crystal, he retired in 1991.
Frank enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren, and bowling with Sylvia and their bowling league at Sunset Lanes in Moorhead. He also enjoyed traveling, whether it be by car with his family or taking bus trips with Sylvia. He was a member of the Moorhead VFW and an active member at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Frank is survived by his children, Steve (Anita) Weaver and Mary (Bill) Port; grandchildren, Cody (Lindsay) Weaver, Shane Weaver, Stephany Weaver, Emily Port, and Joe (Tonya) Port; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Brie, and Will; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sylvia; infant son, Terry; parents, Frank Sr. and Ida; and brother, Conrad.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 12:00 P.M., Monday, February 5, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will take place at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN, following the service.
