FRANK RIDDLE Obituary

FRANK WILTON

RIDDLE JR.

Aug. 3, 1945 – Oct. 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Wilton Riddle Jr. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, due to health complications. Born and raised in El Centro, CA, Frank was the younger of two sons to Frank Sr. and Mary Belle Riddle.

Frank graduated from Central Union High School in 1963. He attended Cal Poly Pomona and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Agriculture Business Management. He then began a life dedicated to farming. He spent the last 32 years of it working for Grimmway Farms mainly growing carrots before his retirement in 2015. He left a lasting impression on both the fields he oversaw and the people he worked alongside. He was tough but fair and had a knack for bringing out the potential he saw in his employees.

Frank cared about his community serving as a member of the Rotary Club of Holtville for many years and as the President of the club from 2002-2003. He also served on the Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association from 2008-2014.

Frank loved to fish and looked forward to dove hunting season every year. He loved his animals, had a deep appreciation for world history and listening to the Dodgers games on his radio in the garage. He was a lifelong fan of classic country music and enjoyed watching western movies from when he was a kid. His quick wit and dry sense of humor came naturally.

Frank was proud to call Holtville his home for the last 30 years of his life. He was proud to be a farmer. He was a great storyteller, a loyal friend and a role model to many. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving partner Joan Carey, his children Tori (Tim) Gilhool, Eli (Maria) Riddle, and Jack (Vanessa) Riddle, and he was proud to be called Tata/Papa by his grandchildren Conner, Charlee, Annabelle, and Finn.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at 10 a.m. on November 8, 2024 followed by a celebration of his life at the Swiss Club in Holtville beginning at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Holtville Rotary Club or to the Humane Society of Imperial County.

Rest in peace, Frank. You are already deeply missed.
