Coming up on a year now. I will never forget how nice you guys were when I was on your tour bus back in 1984. That was such a great year and I still have the pictures. Can't believe we've lost you and Kevin. Very sorry for your family and friends. We've lost so many people lately. Thanks again for the fun. Those days will never come back around in our lifetime. What a time that was...

I got to meet Frankie at a Quiet Riot show. He signed my Metal Health album. I also have a used, signed set of his sticks, and a signed picture he gave me. He was one of the BEST drummers in the world, and one of the nicest Rockstars, that ever existed. He was a peaceful human, and loved his fans. He will be missed. RIP FRANKIE

Frankie and I met at FM Station in North Hollywood back in 1992 and immediately hit it off. As drummers do, we sat and discussed drumming and drummers, music, and why the drummer's true role in any band is to keep it all together and make the music feel good for everyone else--and that's how Frankie lived his life. He made those around him feel good--always looking out for his friends and loved ones.

Throughout the years, we bumped into each other at numerous events--always happy to catch-up and share a moment or two. Within the last five years or so, our contact waned a bit and I had always wondered how Frankie was doing and if he was happy. When I heard the news that he had checked himself into Kaiser Hospital, I immediately made my way over--doubting I'd be able to actually see him due to the COVID crisis--but I had to try.

I grabbed a couple of pairs of Vic Firth "Buddy Rich" model signature drumsticks and headed out. As most of us realize the stock issued gowns in most hospitals aren't really on the cutting edge of anything fashionable or modestly comfortable, so I stopped and picked up a couple of men's robes so Frankie didn't have to settle for just Door #1--he also had Doors 2 and 3 as well.

As expected, I wasn't able to see him but a very decent Security Guard took my care package up to Frankie's room with a note I included.

The next day, I phoned Kaiser and was patched through to Frankie. We spoke for a bit until I asked him how he was doing:

"...I really don't want to talk about it. Thank you for the sticks and everything...can we talk later?'

"Of course--I know we'll talk later. We'll hang when you get out..."

That was the last time we spoke.

But as I told Frankie, I know we'll talk later.

Love you, Frankie.

It's been an outpouring of Facebook posts regarding the passing of Frankie and the one word that I keep seeing in everybody's post is 'kind' and that says it all about this wonderful man who put up a hell of a fight against cancer for the past few years and was very public about his battle....RIP brother Frankie

Literally the REASON I started playing drums. I was 12 when I got my first kit and the Metal Health album, watching the MTV videos I learned how to hold my sticks, how to place my hands, use my feet. Many years later I got to meet him, and tell him what he meant to me as a young kid learning to play, and a few years after that, I got the honor of my band opening for Quiet Riot at a club here in Michigan. A true rock star, a true gentleman, a true hero to many. RIP Frankie.... tell Kevin we said Hi!! We'll be listening for you in the thunder...
