Franklin F. Hunter, born on April 27, 1938, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A cherished figure in both his personal and professional life, Franklin worked for many years as a computer programmer at the Charleston Naval Base. His remarkable career reflects not only his technical skills but also his dedication to service.

Franklin honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, retiring as a Veteran after 22 years of dedicated service in 1978. This commitment to his country was a source of immense pride for Franklin, and he continued to embody the values of integrity, duty, and camaraderie throughout his life.

He is remembered fondly by his family, including his son, James G. Hunter (Ceci), and daughter, Jean Robins, both of Wedgefield. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren: Jennifer, Crystal, Rebecca, Amanda, Desirae, and Cassidy, as well as his fifteen great-grandchildren. The joy and love he brought to their lives will be cherished memories for generations to come.

Franklin is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Hunter and Lillian Ulmer Hunter, and his son, Randy T. Hunter.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC 29115. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Four Holes Baptist Church, at 1622 Four Holes Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115, followed by burial at the same location.
