Franklin Eugene Long, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas. Franklin was born on November 11, 1949, in Bowie County, Texas to Wallace and Martha Kate Long.

Franklin will be remembered by his loving family as "Old Man" and "Horse Man". Franklin had a love for horses and loved his family and friends dearly.

Franklin worked for Red River Army Depot for twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Martha Kate Long and one brother Wallace Long, Jr., and Franklin's son, Chris Long.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Goodwin Long of Texarkana, Texas; his brother Stacy and Pam Long of New Boston, Texas; and son Douglas Perry of Texarkana, Texas; and daughter Tamatha and Jeffrey Crumpton of Texarkana, Texas; son Gene and Sandy Long of West Virginia; and son Dennis and Sharron Perry of Locust Grove, Oklahoma. A daughter Regina and Chris Bayliff of Bluff Dale, Texas; and daughter Patty Dodd of Texarkana, Texas; and daughter Peggy Goodwin of Redwater, Texas; and all his special 18 grandchildren and special 28 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the chapel at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Nash, Texas with Chaplain Scott Redden officiating.

"Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time. For those that have asked how they can help, family and friends are invited to gather for a small reception to remember Franklin after the service. If you would like to help, contributions of light food, desserts, or simple floral arrangements for the reception are appreciated but never expected. If you're able to bring something please drop it off at 105 Crumpton Dr., Texarkana, TX 75503 on Friday or Saturday morning."
