Frank “Hank” Nesheim Age 93, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 29, 2025.

Funeral services for Frank will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11am at Brenny Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at the Brenny chapel. Visitation will be on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 5pm – 7 pm.

Frank was born on July 29, 1932, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to Sam and Esther (Johnson) Nesheim. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1950. After high school, he lived in the Twin Cities, where he served in the National Guard when his unit was mobilized during the Korean War. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, stateside, as a radio operator.

Following his service, Frank became a skilled carpenter. On June 21, 1957, he married Lucy Taray of St. Paul. After the birth of their first daughter, the couple returned to Brainerd, a place Frank always considered himself fortunate to call home. Together, Frank and Lucy operated Nesheim Bait & Tackle and Hatchery in the Brainerd Lakes area for 35 years. Earlier this year, they were honored with induction into the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame.

Frank was a proud member of the American Legion in Brainerd. He enjoyed playing in a pool league for many years, proudly earning dozens of trophies. He loved hunting, playing blackjack at the casino and treasured family card games.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucy; his children Christine (David) Nesheim-Plonski, Julienne Nesheim, Nancy (Bruce) Davis, and Eric (Karla) Nesheim; four grandchildren, Nathaniel (Leona) Nesheim-Case, Riley Nesheim-Case, Sam Nesheim, and Sarah Nesheim; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene (Sonny) Nesheim, and his sister Lois Garvey.

Frank will be remembered for his devotion to family, strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and incredible sense of humor.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
