Franklin Shaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kane Funeral Home - Ridgefield on Dec. 12, 2025.
Franklin E. Shaw Jr., age 90, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. He was born on July 2, 1935, to Franklin E. Shaw Sr. and Irene Potter Shaw.

Frank was married to the love of his life, Patricia Brady Shaw, for many years until her passing in 2021. Together they built a family rooted in love, hard work, and strong community ties.

Frank was a proud graduate of Ridgefield High School, Class of 1953, where he played both offense and defense as an eight-man football player and was a member of the original Ridgefield Boys Club. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957.

Over the years, Frank was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked at First National Store, Bedient's Hardware, served as a mailman for the Town of Ridgefield, and later worked for Libner Corp. and Arrett Sales Company.

An avid outdoorsman, Frank had a deep love for nature. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing, tending to his gardens and fish pond, and spending time outdoors whenever he could. He especially cherished fishing trips with old friends Fred Ferry, Earl Sturges, and Fred Romeo. Frank also enjoyed traveling and spending time with close friends Lani and Richie Brown. A simple pleasure that never failed him was Colony Pizza and a good cup of coffee at The Early Bird.

Frank is survived by his loving children: Jeff Shaw (Kathy), Jenny Bergeron (Tom), Chris Shaw (Holly), and Carolyn Onorato (Jim). He was a proud grandfather to Tommy, Mary, Courtney, Bobby, and Jimmy, and a devoted great-grandfather to Brady, Riley, Owen, Blake, and Cam.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Betty Morelli.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his devoted caregivers, Narci and Ruby, for their compassion, kindness, and care.

Frank will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend-someone who found joy in the outdoors, valued lifelong friendships, and quietly left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment with US Navy funeral honors will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Frank's memory may be made to RVNA Health and Hospice - 27 Governor Street; Ridgefield, CT 06877 or online at http://rvnahealth.org.
