Franklin "Frank" Heinritz White
1927 - 2025
Franklin "Frank" Heinritz White, 97, passed away peacefully from complications of his advanced age on Monday, May 19, 2025, in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Born and raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts on September 17, 1927, he was the son of Lewis and Grace Heinritz White.
Frank graduated from Holyoke High School as valedictorian in 1945. He then served in the US Army Signal Corps in Panama and the United States from 1946-47, and then graduated summa cum laude from New York University, as valedictorian, in 1950. In 1951 he completed an MS in Industrial Engineering at The Ohio State University.
He then began his career with Procter & Gamble at the Quincy, Massachusetts plant, and married Margaret Russell after her graduation from Mount Holyoke College in 1953. They moved to Wyoming, Ohio in 1956 and he spent the rest of his P&G career in Manufacturing management roles in Cincinnati, retiring in 1988.
Frank and Margaret were married for 53 years, until her death in 2006. Friendship United Methodist Church in Wyoming was the center of their lives, with Frank contributing in many roles including as the bass soloist for 35 years. Frank and Margaret travelled the world, visiting 130 countries and making numerous lifelong friendships along the way.
He was active in many community efforts, including founding the Cincinnati Science Center at Union Terminal, serving as Business Marketing Manager of Cincinnati's 1988 Bicentennial, the Fly the Flag Foundation, the City of Wyoming, United Way, Boy Scouts (having been an Eagle Scout), the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Ronald McDonald House, and the Krohn Conservatory.
Frank also had ongoing involvement with NYU, the OSU James Cancer Hospital and Research Center, and was a member of the Defense Orientation Conference Association, the CIA's Association for Intelligence Officers, Zeta Psi Fraternity, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society, and a founder of Alpha Pi Mu Industrial Engineering Honor Society.
An avid photographer, he published a number of books featuring photos of his family and travels. He also created tens of thousands of photo note cards which he donated for resale at the Cincinnati Zoo, Ronald McDonald House and the Krohn Conservatory.
His passion for genealogy led him to publish highly detailed books about his and Margaret's families, including a book about his Heinritz ancestors that was published in German.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Mitchell, and his wife Margaret.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Louise Caldwell (Eric), Russell White (Mimi), and Mitch White (Shelby); six grandchildren, Laura Amadon (Charles),and David Caldwell (Andrea) (children of Louise and Eric), Rachel Kuhrt (Johannes) and Justin (children of Russell and Mimi), Ava and Jackson (children of Mitch and Shelby); and four great-grandchildren, Henry, Theo and Willa (children of Laura and Charles Amadon), and Max (son of David and Andrea Caldwell). He also remained close to his nieces and their families in Maine, Nova Scotia and California.
Frank considered himself the world's most fortunate person.
A memorial celebration will be held in Holyoke, Massachusetts in the coming months, where he will be interred alongside his loving wife Margaret.
