Franklin Earl Young, age 77, of Milan, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Franklin is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Young. They were married on September 14, 1974, and together they raised two children, Justin Young (Tammie Young) and Stephanie Squires (Adam Squires), in Milan, Michigan. He was the proud grandfather of Avery Young, Austin Young, Alec Squires, and Sophia Squires, and is fondly remembered by numerous extended family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Devon Young and Norma Young. He was the oldest of four children, survived by his siblings: Mike Young (Nancy Young), Marianna Bowers (Freddie Bowers), and Tim Young (Michael Lam).

Originally from McDougal, Arkansas, Franklin graduated from Corning High School in Corning, Arkansas, where he built many lifelong friendships and established the strong work ethic that would define him.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his service, he was an active member of the American Legion Post 268 in Milan, Michigan, honoring his fellow veterans and supporting his community. His courage, discipline, and dedication to service remained guiding values throughout his life.

After moving to Michigan, Franklin built a long and respected career working with the Millwrights and Carpenters Local 1102 and later at the Milan Ford Plastic Plant. He was known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and the pride he took in a job well done.

Franklin built his life on integrity, compassion, and a deep commitment to those he loved. Franklin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose steady presence and warm heart touched everyone who knew him. His quiet strength, kindness, and sense of humor will be dearly remembered.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, December 6th from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Milan American Legion Post #268, 44 Wabash Street, Milan, MI 48160. A Celebration of Life Service including Military Honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. A light luncheon will follow the service and will also take place at the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Franklin's name may be made to American Legion Post #268. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always. Remembering, back in the day, when we joined our kids in their high school events- Frank & Diane were very special supportive parents. Frank, I adored your southern accent, warm heart and always your `Genteel Charming Gentleman persona´. Blessings to all the family during this time.
