Fred Badal was born the third child (out of 3) to Abraham Baba Badal (who was pastor of the Assyrian Church in Turlock, CA) and Johanna Badal of Turlock, California. Fred grew up on the family farm and graduated from Turlock High in 1956.
Fred loved learning and received higher education degrees from Modesto Junior College (A.A.), San Jose State (B.A. & M.A. in Electrical Engineering), Santa Clara University (M.B.A.), and Stanford University (Engineering).
He gained engineering work experience at PG&E, Lockheed Martin, and GTE where he was sent all over the world on various field assignments. He also taught engineering classes at San Jose State and Linn Benton Community College.
After retiring from engineering, Fred worked as a Business Broker for Alan Business Investments in the 1990s. He was active in the SCORE organization and the Pleasanton Rotary Club.
Fred was a humble servant of God and attended the following churches: Peninsula Bible Church (Palo Alto, CA), The Covenant Church (Turlock, CA), Valley Church (Cupertino, CA), Northwest Hills (Corvallis, OR), Valley Community Church (Pleasanton, CA), and Celebration (Livermore, CA).
He served on several mission trips to countries such as Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, Mexico, and Spain.
Some of Fred's hobbies include flying Cessna 172s and Piper Cherokee aircrafts (in the 1960s), playing Bridge in various groups, reading and studying about business, biblical archeology, history, and theology.
In May 1967, Fred met the love of his life, Bettie, and married her a year later in August 1968. They started their lives together in Saratoga, CA where they had 3 children; Natasha, Carolyn, and Chris. Fred moved his family to Corvallis, Oregon in 1979 then to Pleasanton, California in 1985.
Fred's favorite vacations of all time were motorhome trips to Yellowstone, sightseeing in Israel, New Zealand, St. Petersburg, and Brazil.
Fred suffered from and succumbed to congestive heart failure with his loving wife, Bettie, and daughter, Carolyn, by his side. He is survived by his wife, Bettie; daughters, Natasha and Carolyn; son, Chris; and grandsons, Zachary and Lucas.
We will miss and remember Fred as a loving, humble, smart, generous, kind father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, and servant of God.
