FRED BEHRINGER Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grant Funeral Services - Estill Springs on Nov. 25, 2025.
Fred Behringer, age 86, of the Keith Springs Community in Belvidere, Tenn. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after losing his battle with cancer on Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born in Waco, Texas to the late Fred Marvin Behringer and Eva Mae Moore Behringer. Fred was definitely a "one of a kind" man. His family was at the top of his list; he loved them deeply. He lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He even did one year of professional bass fishing but decided that was not for him because it took all the fun out of fishing for him.

In 1974 Fred started his commercial construction business named Fredco, which is what eventually led him to this area. In 1976 he built the Long John Silvers in Winchester, Tennessee and loved the area so much he stayed. He also built the Captain D's which is now Wendy's and the Huddle House which is now the location of Subway in Decherd.

His tombstone even reads "Worked hard, Played Hard" which describes his life well.

Mr. Behringer is survived by his life partner, Brenda Long of Winchester, son, Fred Bryan Behringer of Oklahoma, sisters: Eloise Simmons and husband, Jimmy of Tyler, Texas, Mollie Pittman and husband Eldon of Trinidad, Texas, Multiple Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Including Lacy Rains of Berry, Texas and Brandon Cole Rains of Florida.

A Visitation Celebration of Fred's life will be held from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Sunday evening December 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Fred's memory to the Winchester Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 461, Winchester, TN 37398.
