CANDLER - Fred G. Brazil, age 79, of Candler passed away Thursday February 5, 2026.
Fred was born on April 10, 1946, in Madison County and was a resident of Oregon a number of years before returning to Western North Carolina in 1996. He was a former truck driver and more recently he had been in maintenance for apartments. Fred could work on anything and he enjoyed traveling. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Lucy Greer Brazil.
Surviving is his wife, Betty Higgins of Candler; stepson, David Higgins and wife Candy; and grandchildren, Dillan Higgins and fiancé Heather, and Dakota Higgins.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Whitted Family Cemetery, 354 Dula Springs Rd., Weaverville with the Reverend Larry Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
