Fred Cox Jr.

Fred Cox, Jr. was born in Pulaski, Virginia to the late Fred W. Cox, Sr. and Joy Durman Cox. After an extended illness, with his loving wife, Debroah Ann Cox, always by his side, Fred passed from his earthly home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 to become a citizen of heaven. He was also predeceased in death by an infant sister, Sharon Diane Cox and a brother, Toby Michael Cox.

Having moved to Newport News, VA, Fred had an outstanding career in management with Hampton Roads Sanitation District. He retired after 26 years, and continued to be a consultant for similar businesses. Over the years he was very active in various ministries, including Merrimac Juvenile Detention, and spent over 25 years learning and teaching evangelism at World Outreach Center. Fred enjoyed baseball, NASCAR, and especially restoring his father's 1969 Chevy pickup.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debroah Ann Manning Cox; his son, Bradford W. Cox (Valerie and her daughter, Lexy); grandson, Tristan A. Cox and bonus granddaughter, Ryleigh; his two daughters, Angela Cox and Alyson Cordel and other extended family members. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother, Gary Cox (Linda Lemar); brothers-in-law, Kenneth W. Gray (Joyce), Douglas Hedge (Brigitte), Jerry Shepherd (Sue) and sisters-in-law, Prema Stilwill and Carol Cromer.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel. Bishop Jack Smith, a long-time dear friend, will be officiating. Online condolences may also be sent to the funeral home. Private entombment for family to follow. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to New Life Ministry Church of God, 3450 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, VA 23072.

Fred, Deborah Ann, and family would like to express their deep appreciation for the many people who have supported them over the last year and a half including the wonderful medical teams, hospice, family, and friends. We were blessed to have each of you in our lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
