Fred Farris, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2023. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family and prayer.
Fred was born on July 13, 1938 to Louis and Wadad Farris. Growing up, he spent his days in good company with his ten brothers and sisters. Fred proudly served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne as a young man. He later worked in printing, after which he worked for the Chrysler Corporation. He ended his working years in real estate.
Fred was a warm and lively person with a big personality and a smile that brightened the room. His playful and energetic personality was as contagious as his laugh! In his spare time, Fred loved gardening, woodworking, fishing, and hunting. He also loved spending time with his beloved family members, who fondly remember his passion for life and sense of humor.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Louis; mother, Wadad; sister, Betty; brother, Joe; brother, John; sister, Alice; daughter, Tammy; and his grandsons Keaton and Scottie.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Tina; his children Freddy (Susan), Louie (Thuy), Daniela, Lisa, and Eric (Crystal); his grandchildren Vivian, Mia, Artemis, Phaedra, Jordan, Melanie, Chase, Chloe, Giovanni, Emilio, Thomasin, Vance, Hadley, and Miles; his sisters Freda (the late Badie Mallouk), Louisa, Linda, and Lois; his brothers Sam and Bob (Rose Ann); many nieces and nephews and their families; and many other close relatives and friends.
Fred's funeral will take place on Monday, August 21, 2023, where he will lie in state at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 43888 Hayes Road, Clinton Township. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m., followed by a procession to the burial site at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 43888 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
