Fred Ray Fehrmann, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 under the care of Westbrook Acres and Iowa River Hospice in Gladbrook. He was a gentle and caring person who always accepted everyone with love.
Memorial services for Fred will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the family. Fred Fehrmann was born on July 7, 1942 in Marshalltown. He was the son of Carl Otto and Areka (Wisgerhof) Fehrmann. On November 6, 1992, Fred was united in marriage to Barbara Frisbie at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Fred had been employed for Sunset Homes for thirty plus years. He retired from Construct as a truck driver, working for twenty one years with the company. Fred enjoyed fishing, woodworking, coloring, genealogy and doing puzzles. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodges.
Fred is survived by his wife of thirty-three years- Barbara. Children: Carl (Mary) Fehrmann of Ferguson, Lloyd Fehrmann of Iowa City, Richard (Angie) Fehrmann of Eldora, Fred Fehrmann Jr. of Iowa City, Tami (Sandor) Toszegi of State Center, Michele (Rick) Earley of Marshalltown, Dannyele (Rob Grimmius) Stowe of Marshalltown, Missy Simpson of Marshalltown and Shawn (Jennifer) Simpson of El Paso, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren- Amber, Kassey, Nikki, Chastine, Matt, Alex, Tristan, Brhee, Samantha, Austin, Ridge, Leven, Alyssa, Molly, Ethan and Savannah along with several great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents- Carl and Areka; siblings Betty Sunkle, Neil Fehrmann and Judy Smith; and brother-in-law Ted Smith Sr.
