Fredrick Fennern of Bismarck, formerly of Jamestown, passed away November 5, 2025 at the age of 96.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 Raymond St, Bismarck, ND.
Family will greet guests from 6:00-7:00PM, Monday, November 10, 2025 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00PM.
Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
Fred was born October 5, 1929 on the family farm north of Medina, the son of August and Louise (Hoffmann) Fennern. He attended school in Jamestown, ND.
Fred married Mary Louise Lavey in 1951 in Jamestown where they made their home. He served Ottertail Power Company for 42 years in Jamestown, ND and Big Stone Power Plant, SD. In 1995 Fred and Mary moved from Milbank, SD to Bismarck ND.
Fred enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, wood craving, playing cards with family and friends, gardening. He was a man whose hands could build, fix, and create just about anything. Fred turned his craftsmanship toward cabinetry and he lent a hand to neighbors and friends.
He was always a supporter of the Green Bay Packers. One of his favorite times was attending games at Lambeau Field with John and Tom.
Fred spent his life working hard and helping others. He was well known for his work ethic, devotion to others and his faith. Fred and Mary enjoyed retirement in Texas during the winter months, golfing, gardening, and happy hour with lifelong friends from North Dakota.
Fred is survived by his wife, Mary of 74 years; four children, Nikki Newland, Pulaski, TN, Jan (Tom) Eckroth, Bismarck, Jody (Art) Henjum, Valley City, ND, John (Kristin), Parker, CO; grandchildren, Renee (Ken), Daniel, Rick, Jennifer (Tom), Christopher (Angie), Jessica, Morgan (Andy), Hunter; and five great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Tudy Fennern of Bismarck.
Fred is proceeded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Timm, Robert Fennern, James Fennern, and Dorothy Moser.
