Frederick Waymond Flack, age 89 of Bessemer City, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at his residence. He was born November 13, 1933 in Albuquerque, NM to the late John M. and Luella Smith Flack. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Freightliner. Fred was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia. He was a loyal and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ricky Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruby Pauline Kiser Flack; daughters, Cathy Johnston and Carol Carpenter; brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Eva Flack; grandchildren, Jennifer Johnston, Tracy Carpenter, Tony Carpenter, and Casey Johnston; great grandchildren, Brittany, Caleb, Bethany, Julianna, Braydon, Kaylynn, Dylan, Natalie, Jeremiah, and Willow; and great great grandchildren, Trinity, Lila, Savannah, Ella, Lucas, Brycin, Nora, Emery, and Joshua.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Hephzibah ARP Church with Rev. Brant Wilkie and Rev. Dennis Boyce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
