Fred William Freeman

Fred W. Freeman passed from this earth and went to be with his Lord on December 24, 2025 at the age of 83 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Fred was born September 9, 1942 in Meridian, MS to John and Wilma Freeman. Fred attended Enid, Oklahoma High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1965 (Philippines). Fred retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after 34 years of service.

Fred married Shirley (Oblander) on December 8, 1968 in Woodward, Oklahoma. This union of 57 years was blessed with two sons. El Reno Oklahoma was home for more than 40 years before making a new home in Mustang, Oklahoma.

Fred enjoyed fishing, camping, and working in his shop especially when he and Bennie Barks would get together for the occasional escapade. He was committed to his family, faith, and community. Fred was honored with El Reno Citizen of the year and Deacon Emeritus at First Christian Church El Reno, Oklahoma for his many years of service to the church.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents John and Wilma Freeman.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home, his brother John Freeman of Sicklerville, New Jersey (wife Cille), two sons; Tracy Freeman of Wamego, Kansas (wife Stephanie), Brian Freeman of El Reno, Oklahoma (wife Shawna), three grandchildren; Hunter Freeman of El Reno Oklahoma (wife Kayla, great grandchildren Kase, Kenna), Peyton Freeman of Wamego, Kansas, Hayden Porter of Elk City, Oklahoma (husband Gage, and great granddaughter Palmer Porter due in January of 2026) and numerous aunts, uncles and in-laws from both sides of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Christian Church, 400 S. Barker Ave., El Reno, OK; His Hands Extended, 520 N. Market Ave., Watonga, OK 73772; or to the charity of one's choice.

A viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at First Christian Church, 400 S. Barker Avenue, El Reno, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at El Reno Cemetery, El Reno, Oklahoma.
