Fred Grimes, 63, passed away on January 17, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1962, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to his loving parents, Crockett and Shirley Grimes, both of whom are deceased.
Fred was a graduate of Tarleton State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He faithfully served with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Parole Officer throughout his career, carrying out his duties with integrity, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility. Prior to his retirement, he was promoted to Unit Supervisor, a role that reflected his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public service.
A man who found his greatest joy in the outdoors, Fred was passionate about hunting, fishing, and sport shooting. These pursuits reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for nature and brought him peace and fulfillment throughout his life.
Fred was married to his devoted wife, Dorothy, with whom he shared a strong and enduring marriage built on love, respect, and companionship.
Fred was a longtime and faithful member of the Salesville Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual grounding for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his sister, Connie Grimes Gault, and her husband, George Gault; and his granddaughter, Briana Watkins. Fred will be fondly remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family and faith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Salesville Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cary Scott, Cole McKennon, George Harrison, Greg Glass, James Hailey, and Marlon Price.
Fred's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
