Fred A. Morgillo, age 83, of West Haven passed away on May 23, 2023, at the Veterans Administration Hospital. For 54 years, he was the loving husband of Anna Mae Daurio Morgillo. Fred was born in New Haven, son of the late Anthony and Edna Hansen Morgillo. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Anthony Morgillo of Branford, Cynthia (David) Sportelli of Guilford, and Charles (Donna) DeMaio of North Carolina, his five grandchildren, Sarah (Nick Dagliere) Sportelli, Zachary and Emily Morgillo, Jason (Diane Respeto) and Joshua DeMaio, his great grandson Evan DeMaio, and his sister Patricia (Nick) Murano of Wallingford. Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Salvatore Morgillo and Carol Lauckner. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. For many years he was a computer programmer for Amtote Systems and also worked for the USPS until his retirement. Fred was an avid fan of all sports, but especially loved baseball and the New York Mets and made many trips to New York to watch them play. He also coached youth baseball in West Haven for many years. He also enjoyed watching UCONN Women's basketball. Fred loved animals and always had a dog. He also loved when his grand-dogs came to visit. The family of Fred Morgillo would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital for the wonderful care he received.
The hours for visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31st from 5-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Interment will be private. To leave an online condolence, please visit our website at www.westhavenfuneral.com

Fred & my dad were good friends. They were Altar boys together at St. Donato's in Fair Haven & my father always had great stories to tell about Fred. When my father passed, many, many years ago, Fred was right there for us

Although we have not seen each other in 60 years,my childhood memories growing up in Fair Haven are my friendship with Fred.We invented a baseball game using dice and played it my home on Clinton Ave. under the grapevine. we spent our Saturday afternoon watching in black and white The LoneRanger on tv on Clinton Ave..These were special times which will forever be cherished.Thanks Fred,rest in peace.
